THE ONE-MAN SHOW
Documentary Short
Filmed:
February 2006
Current Status:
Post-Production/Editing
Lance Corporal Jeff Key performed his military duty in the war in Iraq, and now he's back home in the United States. His reason for leaving? He's an open homosexual.

After leaving the Marine Corps, Jeff made it his mission to share his story of what he went through during his time spent overseas. He travels across the nation presenting his one-man show, "The Eyes of Babylon," quoting the lines he wrote in his journal while in Iraq. He tells about the hardship of serving in a war he feels is wrong and unjust, and discusses how difficult it was for him to leave the service because of his sexuality.

Due to his lifestyle, Jeff's show has been highly protested in conservative areas. On February 7, 2006, Jeff performed "The Eyes of Babylon" in Liberty, Kentucky, where he was greeted by 370 protestors. Three days later, he drove 30 miles eastward for his presentation at Somerset Community College.

"The One-Man Show" documents the events surrounding the Somerset performance. Interviews from protestors, supporters, sponsors of the Gay-Straight Alliance, and from Jeff Key are featured. Due to contractual obligations, however, cameras were not allowed inside the theatre during "The Eyes of Babylon" play. This short film is currently being edited; video clips will be available on the Estranged Pictures web site upon the documentary's completion, as will the opportunity to purchase a DVD copy of "The One-Man Show."

UPDATE: Currently waiting for photos taken by Jeff while serving in Iraq.
